EXPERIENCE
Robert Creevy is Legal Counsel at Alta Trust, where he advises the executive management team, board of directors, and fiduciary officers. He is a trusted financial services attorney known for clear judgment, practical guidance, and a solutions-first approach to fiduciary and regulatory
matters. Robert’s background spans banking, custody operations, and financial services law, which gives him a strong operational lens in addition to his legal expertise.
In his role, Robert provides counsel on trust administration, fiduciary risk management, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and client transactions. He supports Alta Trust management by structuring and reviewing trust, custody, vendor, and other agreements. He also reviews investment vehicles and related contracts to help ensure sound fiduciary practices.
Across the organization, Robert partners on fiduciary oversight initiatives, including IRA custody work, non-ERISA custody programs, and institutional trust and custody matters. His focus is on helping teams document sound decisions and navigate complex requirements with confidence.
Prior to Alta Trust, Robert spent more than 13 years at Charles Schwab as Director, Corporate Counsel. Earlier, he served nearly 15 years at The Northern Trust Company as a Vice President and Senior Business Unit Attorney, where he built deep expertise in institutional asset servicing, directed trustee roles in ERISA plans, and custody solutions for international and private funds. He began his legal career in private practice and also brings early experience in trust and custody operations, that informs how he evaluates contracts, risk, and real-world execution.
Away from the office, Robert is President of the Board of Have Dreams, a Chicago-area nonprofit supporting children and adults on the autism spectrum. He is also an avid soccer player and longtime organizer of a weekend pickup group, and a dedicated supporter of the Chicago Fire.
Robert and his wife met in the Peace Corps and enjoy travel, the arts, and long-distance walking routes, including multiple pilgrimages on the Camino de Santiago network across Europe. Robert is also a proud father of three.

“I don’t like being a lawyer who puts up roadblocks. I like being a lawyer who finds a path, helping teams do the right thing, document it well, and move forward with confidence in their fiduciary role.”
